For those who watch both Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless, get ready to be seeing double. Because Billy Flynn is making his debut this week on the CBS soap and, for those who watch it, the latest preview certainly looks a whole lot like he’ll be the face behind the mysterious Aristotle Dumas!
But Chad’s not going anywhere for the time being, as Days of Our Lives fans probably noticed on Tuesday’s episode with him and Cat. In fact, since the Peacock sudser films so far in advance, we’ll still be seeing Flynn and Chad in Salem into 2026!
But we’re already wondering if the writers may have begun setting his exit in motion — and if it’s tied directly to Cat. The thing is, after John’s big farewell story, we’re not wondering if the two will ride off into the sunset together, but if she could be responsible for a far worse end to Chad!
John’s funeral established two very curious connections. One: Cat saw a photo of Sami and thought she seemed familiar. And two: She casually greeted Shane at the funeral as “Director,” walking by as if she were a spy trying not to draw attention to an interaction, but said nothing more.
And since Shane is in the spy business, their little interaction was very curious indeed. While we aren’t entirely sure about Cat’s connection to Sami, her ties to Shane could have huge implications.
Is Cat a Secret Hero… or Villain?
We could go a number of directions here, from Cat not being Cat, but having been switched out when she got “plastic surgery.” Maybe the real Cat died and an ISA agent was put in her place to try taking Clyde down. Cat’s memories could have been implanted in her, since she seems to know all about the Greene family and away they go.
But that seems like the type of fantastical story the new writing regime is getting away from. Another possibility is that Cat could have been recruited by the ISA to take down Clyde while she was doing her bidding. But then her mom took care of the problem when she shot him and put him in a coma.
Though as much as Clyde has been a thorn in Salem’s side, he hasn’t exactly risen to the type of international supervillain that the ISA tends to go after. And that leads to the third possibility. Shane seemed mildly confused by Cat’s greeting — which could mean that she hasn’t worked with him in the past, but against him.
She could be not nearly as innocent as she’s pretending, and turn out to be a sleeper villain in Salem, biding her time.
The question is how far in advance did the soap know Billy Flynn wouldn’t be renewing his contract? This would have all been filmed back around September of 2024 and Flynn will be appearing up through next year. That would be a huge amount of lead time to set up his exit.
But even if his leaving wasn’t factored into this new twist for Cat, it could still end up providing the perfect set up for his exit.
How This Could Kill Chad
Cat’s past could catch up to her, introducing a new villain to put her and Chad in danger, or even bringing back an old one. (Just maybe not Konstantin.) If that happens and she and Chad are an item, he could end up in the crosshairs and a casualty in whatever mess she’s in.
But if Cat ends up being a lot darker than we realized, she could be the one to take out Chad if he starts getting suspicious or gets in the way of whatever she’s planning. It will be awhile before this all plays out, but it sure is convenient that we learn there’s more than meets the eye to Cat, just as Billy Flynn is about to make his Young & Restless debut.
