On today’s Days of Our Lives, JJ and Rafe run into each other in the square and get right into how torn up Gabi is over what happened with Arnold. JJ promises he won’t rest until EJ pays and Rafe tells him about his and Jada’s lead.

Doug plops himself down on the couch and grabs grandpa Doug’s book of poems, thinking again to telling Holly about his feelings in the cabin. Julie cuts it short asking if he’s thinking about his grandfather. Reading grandpa’s notes is like getting to know him, he says, which thrills Julie, so she says to ask anything about her Doug.

He asks about how to tell a girl how to feel, and Julie tells him there are plenty of ways without words. Like her and Doug dancing around the room after their Friday night dinner out. She mentions the last restaurant they tried out was the Bistro, which is lovely. She hasn’t been back since her Doug died, so she asks young Doug to take her there.

They head out and find JJ in the square, so Julie invites him along to dinner, too. “Gosh, what a lucky old lady I am!”

Tate and Holly Talk Things Out

Holly knocks on Tate’s door asking if his mom is there, figuring she should say hi and play nice. But no, she’s gone back to California. Grandma Kimberly’s leukemia is back. Holly hugs him and asks if he wants to talk about it. He asks why she’s being so nice — they just had that big fight — and Holly insists she loves him.

They hash out their fight a bit and Tate admits he was jealous of Doug and worries she’s slipping away. Holly promises nothing is going on, she just needs someone to vent to and she and Tate hardly see each other. It’s no one’s fault, it just sucks. Tate then tells Holly that the adoption might work out, after all — except for EJ.

Holly says he knows how to charm, EJ can win Amy over. She then says she’s glad they had this talk and everything’s OK and Tate invites her to stick around for a movie and pizza.

Jada and Rafe Celebrate Prematurely

Kristen snatches her mom’s immunity deal from Jada, saying Rachel will play ball — after she has Melinda look at it. “The clock is ticking,” Jada tells her. After Kristen leaves, Rafe drops in to see if Jada wants to go to dinner. Not just yet — Jada just got Kristen to agree to Rachel Blake’s testimony. As far as the commish is concerned, it’s a done deal. Melinda just has to look over it, so they’re going to hang out and wait.

Days Jada and Rafe sit across from each other at her desk, both looking at ease

Rafe is so happy that Jada’s back where she belongs, insisting he’d much rather be the “scrappy private investigator” engaged to the police commissioner. The only thing that would make him happier would be to make her his wife. He never actually made any wedding plans, and he hates that Arnold ruined Jada’s big day.

He notices her ring is gone and Jada says she thinks that creep still has the Hernandez family ring. Rafe isn’t upset, though, he just wants to make her Mrs. Rafe Hernandez.

Julie Demands Her Necklace Back

Kristen meets with Melinda at the Bistro and hands the immunity agreement over. Trask reads through it and says it’s a great deal for Rachel — and a hard break for EJ. Have her sign it and testify away.

Just then, Julie and the boys walk in and she stops dead, staring at Melinda’s neck. “My God! That’s my grandmother’s necklace!” She rushes over to demand where she got the necklace, which Kristen takes as her cue to head out. Melinda is wearing stolen property. “So now, you must give it back!”

Melinda laughs at the idea, and Julie demands that JJ arrest the former DA. Not so fast. You can’t arrest people for wearing a necklace that looks like Julie’s grandmother’s, and there’s no way she’d go around wearing a stolen necklace. JJ asks where she got it, and Melinda says it came from a private, trusted jeweler.

Julie admits she never even reported it stolen, so Melinda tells them all to buzz off. They do — so Julie can file a police report. But she breaks out her phone first and gets a photo of Melinda. JJ and Julie head out, leaving Doug and Trask to stare each other down.

EJ Takes Care of Rachel Blake

EJ sits, taking in what Rachel told him, realizing Kristen’s brokering an immunity deal in exchange for his head. He thanks Mother Blake, walks over to the safe and grabs the memory serum. “You won’t be testifying against anyone.”

He lays out his plan, instead of just doing it, but eventually, he sticks her, opining about how the dose isn’t calibrated to her and Rafe’s imprisonment, so he’s not sure how much she’ll forget. Anything to say to Kristen first? Rachel curses him out, then pauses, looks around, “Where’s Kristen?”

EJ’s eyes go wide. “Whoah, that was fast.” She starts pretending she lost all memory, but slips up and he catches her. She drops the act and snarls at him that she remembers him, his name and “all kinds of things.” She’s been keeping an eye on him, saw him mess with the syringe before and smugly tells EJ she switched out the drug for a placebo.

“Looks like I’ll be testifying against you, after all.” No, EJ says, she won’t. He edges menacingly closer to her.

Kristen Vows to Make EJ Pay

In the show’s final moments, Kristen gets home, noticing her mom’s shawl is on the couch. But mom isn’t. EJ shrugs off her questions about where Rachel is. “All I know is that she’s gone.” She left the house without a word. He acts way too smugly casual, though, and Kristen knows something is up. “Damn you, EJ. Damn you.” He’s lying. “Where the hell is she!?” EJ tells his sister to calm down. No point in getting hysterical, where there’s “really… no solution at all.” He leaves and Kristen picks up her mom’s gun.

At the police station, Julie tells JJ where and when she last saw the necklace — December 2nd. “How on earth did Melinda Trask get her hands on it?” Back at the Bistro, Trask tells Doug that the least he can do for her taking the heat for his theft is buy her another drink. There’s no proof, so Julie’s police report might just fall through the cracks. But if the cops come from her, she’s throwing him under the bus.

Rafe and Jada are still waiting, feeling a little too self-congratulating about wiping that smug grin off EJ’s face.
