This week on Days of Our Lives.
The time has arrived to say goodbye to a man among men, a devoted husband, father, and friend, who deeply affected the lives of everyone he crossed paths with in Salem. According to the Days of our Lives spoilers preview, the funeral of John Black is going to be an event to remember, filled with love, laughter, joy-filled memories, and heartfelt tears. Here’s your DAYS video preview for the week of June 9-13, 2025.
Tribute to a Hero
Family and friends gather for the funeral of one of Salem’s all-time greatest men, John Black (Drake Hogestyn). “We’re here to honor an incredible life and legacy,” begins his stepson, Eric (Greg Vaughan).
For 40 years, he defined heroism and romance, and flashbacks of some of his greatest moments will show the highs and the lows of his long and complicated life. “That’s a fact,” says John in a flashback as he raises a champagne glass to his wife, Marlena (Deidre Hall).
Love and Laughter
Later, his children – Carrie (Christie Clark), Belle (Marth Madison), Paul (Christopher Sean), and Eric – toast the remarkable man that John was. Then everyone gathers for his poignant memorial, which is filled with some lighter moments too, particularly when Brady (Eric Martsolf) takes the podium to memorialize his father. Belle clutches her chest and throws her head back laughing, while Carrie, Paul, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), and others all let out a chuckle.
It’s all part of Days of Our Lives’ exquisite tribute that celebrates the life of John Black. One by one, everyone gets a chance to share their memories of the late great John. “I don’t think we’ve talked enough about how funny my dad was,” says Belle, when she gets her moment to discuss her father. Her proud mom, Marlena, looks on with a smile.
When Paul gets his opportunity to speak, he reflects on his dad’s love for the all-American pastime. “Baseball can bring people together,” he announces.
Then John’s granddaughter, Rachel (Alice Halsey), remembers special times she shared with him. “He sang Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” she recounts. “And I bet he was calling out, ‘Swing for the fences,’” joins in Marlena.
