Did Derek Hough just let the cat out of the bag about a “Dancing With the Stars” season 34 casting decision? The “DWTS” judge teased the possibility that Taylor and Tay Lautner might be joining the cast.

On May 31, Hough took to TikTok with a video that noted, “I’m bored. Cast someone I’d have no choice but to go from judge back to pro again for. Make it realistic but also go big.”
He added, “Don’t hold back. DWTS casting team is listening.”
Fans took the ball and ran, offering up grand ideas like Taylor Swift (Hough responded, “Ok twist my arm”), Britney Spears, Sabrina Carpenter, and Kelly Clarkson. There were also mentions of Taylor and Tay Lautner.
“Taylor Lautner himself or his wife Tay,” one fan wrote. Hough responded, “This might actually happen.”
One fan had a fun idea for the Lautners, writing: “You with Tay Lautner and we also bring your sister out of hosting and partner her with Taylor Lautner. It’s the battle of the siblings and battle of spouses.”
Another fan had a similar idea, suggesting that Bindi Irwin return because her brother, Robert Irwin, is on season 34. “Bring Bindi back to face off with her brother and pair Robert with Julianne … sibling wars,” they wrote.

The Lautners would definitely be up for the challenge — especially Tay.
On the January 2024 episode of “The Squeeze” podcast, she explained, “I grew up watching it with my nana. But I danced growing up … I didn’t do like ballroom or anything.”
Tay said that her nana would tell her, “‘You need to go on this show.'” She explained, “It’s like one of her favorite shows. And I was like, ‘Nana, I can’t do that.'”
Taylor noted, “This is Tay’s dream.”
Tay further shared, “I think it would be really fun to do the show and I really want to do it. But it would just be a really crazy full circle moment, getting to bring my nana and being like, ‘Hey nana, I’m like not a pro, like I’m a star on this.’ Like how crazy is that? Something that I grew up watching and be like, ‘Oh that would be cool.'”
Taylor added, “You never know.”
Tay hoped to grab the show’s attention, noting, “So if you know anyone over there that’s like looking …”
