Desperation Growing for Red Wings to Trade Former NHL All-Star Per New Reports

The Detroit Red Wings made some intriguing signings a year ago, but now it appears they're looking to move one of those players in Vladimir Tarasenko after a disappointing first season with the team as a big time free agency addition.

Desperation Growing for Red Wings to Trade Former NHL All-Star Per New Reports

The Detroit Red Wings have the second longest Stanley Cup Playoffs drought of any team in the NHL, and last summer, it was clear that they made some signings with the intention of ending that run.

Those signings included veterans Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko, but after failing to reach the post-season once again, they're reportedly getting desperate to move one of those pieces.

According to some analysts, the Red Wings need rescuing from Tarasenko, and while he's certainly not a bad player, the fit just doesn't work in Detroit as they potentially look to get ready to move him this summer.

In a recent report, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period notes that his name has been out there in trade discussions, and with the team hoping that they can get rescued from his deal, there's interest around the league.

This past season, the veteran forward played in 80 games, tallying just 11 goals and 33 points, a vast drop off from notching 23 goals and 55 points from the season prior, a performance that he used to get a big money deal in free agency from Detroit.

Ultimately though, the Red Wings are in a very tricky spot moving forward, and Tarasenko is a name that they'd love to get off of, so while it's not a guarantee that he's traded this summer, don't be surprised to see significant interest in the 33-year old moving forward.
