There are a lot of perks to being a cast member on any Real Housewives show — but the biggest one might be getting to go on those epic group trips.
From the lavish Saint Lucia vacation on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14 to now-infamous trips like Scary Island on The Real Housewives of New York City Season 3, or the "receipts, proof, timeline, screenshots" Bermuda excursion on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4, nobody knows how to throw a trip like the 'Wives, but who is actually paying?!
Back in 2019, Andy Cohen confirmed that the show usually pays for the trips. "We do," Andy shared with OK! Magazine at the time when asked who is footing the bill. "Frankly, we do yeah but you know it depends on the vacation actually."
Who plans Real Housewives' trips?
According to Andy, who is a producer on the Real Housewives shows, the host of the trip will collaborate with production to pick the location and the itinerary. "There have been some that have been generated by us and there have been some that have been generated by them," Andy explained. "The women take the planning of the vacation really seriously and so it's a case by case but we have paid for them, yes."
Kyle Richards reveals that Housewives pay for trip upgrades and excursions
While basic airfare and accommodations are covered, the 'Wives can choose to pay to upgrade to first class (or to fly private as they sometimes do).
During a panel at BravoCon 2022, Kyle Richards opened up about the things she pays for on RHOBH. "People always do ask about the planes and the parties and stuff, and they do think everything is paid by production — even other cast members from other shows ask about that," Kyle said. "We are actually paying for those things ourselves."

Kyle Richards reveals Real Housewives cast trip secrets with a show producer
In an interview with BravoTV.com more recently, Kyle talked about Real Housewives cast trips in general. "One of my favorite things with you guys is at the end of the shoot or in the morning, coming in and recapping like, 'Can you believe this happened?'"
"I love trips for that. I don't think people realize how intense trips are," RHOBH co-executive producer Craig Turner added in the clip at the top of the post. "There are literally 24-hour days — we wake up with you in bed, we go to bed with you — and that's why I've always understood what you mean by the crew becoming family, because that happens obviously on the day to day anyway, but a trip is intense and you spend so much time together."
