On Monday’s May 12th episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) and his son, Liam (Scott Clifton), finally have a face-to-face conversation after their blow-out argument at Bill’s house, which kicked off the beginning of the huge story arc of Liam’s inoperable brain tumor that sprung out of their fight and its aftermath.
During the conversation, Bill and Liam have a come-to-Jesus moment forgiving each other and sharing their admiration and love for each other as father and son. Liam still has not told Bill, he is dying, which we can only imagine in the hands of soap veteran, Don Diamont, how tragic and difficult it will be for the stoic Dollar Bill.
However, May 12, also marked Diamont’s 16th year since Diamont’s debut as B&B’s Bill Spencer. Taking to his Instagram Don expressed, “It feels like 16 minutes‼️‼️‼️ To say that I’m grateful too Brad Bell (executive producer and head writer, B&B) for having created this wonderfully complicated character for me, and trusting me to lift him off the page, is an understatement. I have so much gratitude to everyone I work with in front of and behind the camera at The Bold and the Beautiful 🙏🏻‼️❤️‼️”

Responding to his post, Darin Brooks, who has played Don’s TV son, Wyatt Spencer added, “Congrats pop!! 🙌🙌👏👏❤️❤️ Here’s to 16 (or even 32) more!! 🥳🎉😎 Love, your #1 bestest son!”
Meanwhile, Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott, The Young and the Restless), who played Don’s wife when he played Brad Carlton, also chimed in with, “I’m proud of you, and so happy you have been such a bright light in my life, my sweet friend. Long may you wave! And congratulations, you handsome icon, you. love you, Donald. xxx”

Diamont was first seen back in 1984 as Carlo Forenza on Days of our Lives, but was soon brought to The Young and the Restless in 1985 and began taking on the role of Brad Carlton. He played the part for two runs from 1985-1996, and then again from 1998-2009 until the character was killed-off. It was that point that Brad Bell brought Don to Y&R’s sister soap and created the role of Bill Spencer for him.
In a recent interview with TV Guide, Diamont recalled, that having worked for the late, great Bill Bell while at The Young and the Restless, that he kept some of Bell’s letter to him, one of which read,“Know that The Young and the Restless will always be here for you.” Sadly, Bell passed away back in 2005 from complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Eventually, Diamont was killed off Y&R as Brad. Although not surprised, Diamont shared, “I was still taken aback by it.”

Soon after, Bell’s son, Brad created Bill Spencer for the long-running soap star. Diamont heralded Brad because he, “Was my Champion.” In a moment of clarity and humor, Diamont shared, “Bill cast me as Brad, and then Brad cast me as Bill.”
