The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Dorit Kemsley confirmed her separation from Paul "PK" Kemsley in an emotional Instagram post that she shared with her followers on Thursday, May 9.
"We as a couple have been subject to a lot of speculation about our marriage. We have had our struggles over the last few years and continue to work through them as two people who love each other and share two amazing children together,” she said on Instagram in a post shared just weeks after they marked their 9th wedding anniversary.
“To safeguard our deep friendship and maintain a harmonious environment for our children we have made the mutual and difficult decision to take some time apart and reevaluate our relationship while we prioritize our children. We appreciate your love and support while we continue to do the work necessary throughout this journey. With love, Dorit and PK," the statement continued. For his part, PK also shared the same statement to his Instagram Stories.
Inside Dorit and PK's relationship
The couple met in 2011 and married in 2015, but it "wasn't a love at first sight type of thing," she said on the March 13 episode of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast. "When we finally went on our first date, we had the best time," she recalled. "And really from that night, we were inseparable ... I may not have known he was the one, but there was something distinctly different than with anyone else. It was like I'd known him my whole life."
Dorit and PK tied the knot in New York City’s iconic Rainbow Room on March 7, 2015. Together, they are parents to two kids. They welcomed their first child, son Jagger, in 2014. And in 2016, they welcomed their daughter, Phoenix.
Dorit and PK's Marital Struggles
Ahead of Dorit and PK confirming their choice to separate, they had been open about their struggles in their relationship in Season 13.
At the RHOBH Season 13 reunion, Dorit revealed that "things got progressively worse" after filming wrapped. The couple's relationship was even "at an all time bad." At that time, Dorit said she and PK are currently "better than ever."
"PK was drinking a lot — and he's a drinker — [but] I just think it's difficult to have clear-headed conversations when he's drinking so much. So, he gave up drinking," Dorit shared on the RHOBH Season 13 reunion. "He's actually been sober for, I think, 49 days. That was a very pivotal moment so things are, knock on wood, as good as they can possibly be.”
The reunion filmed in late January 2024.
