Drew Sidora Explains Why She Had To Work With Porsha Williams’ Ex Dennis McKinley

Throughout The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16, one of the biggest feuds that didn’t involve an NSFW posterboard was between Drew Sidora and Porsha Williams. Drew worked on music with Dennis McKinley, Porsha’s baby daddy and ex-fiancé. Porsha felt a sense of betrayal seeing Dennis running around Atlanta with another Real Housewife.

Of course, you can throw a rock anywhere in Atlanta and hit at least three music producers, so we’ve been having a hard time understanding why Drew felt so adamant about working with Dennis the Hot Dog King. Could she not have just found someone else to produce her album?

Fortunately, a fan asked her that question during a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live. That cleared the way for Drew to give the backstory about how her project with Dennis came to fruition, and why Porsha had no room to be upset about it.

Drew Sidora says Porsha Williams is a “fan of the music” she did with Dennis McKinley

Season 16 kicked off with Porsha calling Drew a “lowdown dirty individual” for working with Dennis on her music. However, Drew explained on WWHL that it was actually Dennis who approached her.

“I was doing a show with Tamar Braxton,” Drew explained. “Dennis reached out to my team to host the after party. After that, he sent music to my team.”

According to Drew, she had already worked with plenty of other producers at different points in her career. However, she said that the music Dennis pitched spoke to her heart, even though she didn’t specifically seek him out for the project.

“If you guys are lovers of music, it’s about the music,” Drew explained. “I was like, ‘Wait a minute, Dennis and music?’ But when I heard the songs, it resonated with what I was going through in my personal life.”

In Drew’s mind, working on the album with Dennis felt like therapy as she navigated her divorce from Ralph Pittman. On the other hand, she felt like Porsha’s divorce from Simon Guobadia is what prompted most of the negative sentiment.

“I reached out to Porsha — called her, texted her, called her. She was living her African princess life in Dubai and Nigeria. She never called me back,” Drew recalled.

Eventually, Drew said she texted Porsha to let her know about the work with Dennis, and she heard back with her blessing. That’s why she felt so confused at Shamea’s birthday party in Episode 2 when Porsha came after her.

“I will say this: Porsha is a fan of the music,” Drew said. “She was a part of the process when we were recording. Porsha and I had a conversation before we started filming. Porsha was so excited about the music. She’s like, ‘It’s all good, let’s go hang out.'”

Drew continued, “Which is why at Shamea’s birthday party, I was so taken aback, like we just talked last week. We were talking two weeks ago, and it was all love, so it was giving like, ‘Well, I can’t talk about this, so we’re going to talk about you.'”
