Emma Slater has had many milestones, including winning “Dancing With the Stars” in 2017 alongside Rashad Jennings, but she recently celebrated a new one when she bought her first apartment building.
Slater was excited to share the news with her fans, and she did this by posting a short video of herself getting ready to demolish a room (which looks like an oddly therapeutic experience). She can be seen holding up a hammer and being taught to hit it at the right angle for maximum damage and efficiency. In her caption, she revealed more about what is happening in the clip.

Slater discussed her journey into property development with her caption as she shared that she had purchased her first apartment building in Los Angeles, California. Referring to the buy as a “massive step” for her, she also shared that it was a “bit scary.” She continued, “Here is my first swing on demolition day today. I know by posting this I may look a bit tragic because I’m clearly not the best for this particular job, but hey, enjoy my scream hahaha. Lots of work ahead, and I can’t wait to watch the progress. ‘Welcome to Magnolia Blvd Management.’”
The post’s comment section has come alive with reactions from celebrities and fans. Among the celebs who have reacted is former DWTS pro and current co-host Julianne Hough, who celebrated Slater’s moment with her. “This is huge!!!! #congrats Emma,” Hough wrote.
Slater even got the attention of renovation expert and HGTV favorite Tarek El Moussa, who commented with three clapping hand emojis. “Property Brothers” star Drew Scott also weighed in on the post and Slater’s interesting choice of footwear. “Are those permissible construction boots?! “ he commented, referring to her slip-ons.

Emma Slater Begins a New Chapter
Slater’s new beginning is one of many after her split from fellow DWTS professional dancer, Sasha Farber. The former couple celebrated their love on the show, including getting engaged during an episode in 2016. They married in 2018 but split in 2022. She has embraced being alone, something she hadn’t experienced for years.
“I’ve been traveling a little bit. It’s a bit of a cliché thing to say, but spending time by myself has been the most rewarding thing that I’ve done in the last few months,” Slater told People in May 2024. “’Dancing with the Stars’ just wrapped a tour a little over a month ago, and since then I’ve spent some really good quality time by myself, and I haven’t done that in years. It has really helped me so much, and I was petrified about doing that to begin with, but I forced myself to do it.”
