Longtime “Dancing With the Stars” cast member Sasha Farber was a pro on season 33 and he has quite the story to tell about it.
For starters, Farber was supposed to be part of the season’s troupe after casting hadn’t found a suitable partner for him. However, at the very last minute, casting called up “Bachelorette” lead Jenn Tran and offered her a spot on the show. Casting director Deena Katz also called Farber, giving him clear instructions about getting to the airport — fast.
On the second episode of the “Maks and Peta” show, Farber discussed just how chaotic it was for him.
Sasha Farber Made it on His Flight Just in Time
The last-minute casting decision had both Farber and Tran in a mad dash to the airport. The two had to catch a flight out of California to get to New York City for the early morning call-time at “Good Morning America.”
“I was at the counter [at the airport] trying to [expletive] my way through to get a seat,” Farber told show hosts Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd.
Tran told Farber that she didn’t understand how he was able to get through security without a boarding pass.
“You don’t need your ticket, you just need your ID. And they were fans of the show,” Farber explained. When Chmerkovskiy pointed out that security is for “ticketed passengers only” and asked Farber how he managed, he responded, “I got through.”
Farber walked up to the gate 30 minutes after boarding had started. He had a confirmation that he was on the flight, but didn’t have a seat.
Sasha Farber Still Has His Boarding Pass From That Particular Flight
On a December 2024 episode of the “Lightweights” podcast, Farber said that he still has the boarding pass for that last-minute flight.
“It was just so exciting. I actually, funny enough, it was such a special moment because I still carry this in my wallet, like, and no one knows about it,” Farber said on the podcast.
“This is literally the boarding pass from that flight, Burbank flight, 7A, it was gate 7A, seat 22E, and it was doors closed at 845. And Deena called me, Deena called me, I wanna say, 7:45. It was like, it was a movie. It was literally like a movie and I have it in my wallet,” he added.
Farber and Tran ended up really bonding on season 33. After the two finished the competition (in 7th place), they actually moved in together. They’ve remained coy about dating rumors, however.
