As Philadelphia Eagles fans prepare for the 2025 NFL schedule release, it is fairly easy to have a "next victim" mentality.
After all, we're talking about the defending Super Bowl champs.
Not only that, but these defending Super Bowl champs were somehow able to get even better this offseason. Howie Roseman has continued his masterful operation at the top and the rest of the league should be worried about a Philly repeat.
Speaking of a repeat, as we await the NFL schedule release, there is one particular matchup fans cannot wait to watch unfold, and that's a Super Bowl rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Eagles' Super Bowl LIV rematch with the Chiefs snubbed as NFL's top game of the 2025 season
The NFL's official social media released a list of their top-10 matchups of the season to get fans amped for the release of this year's schedule, and somehow, the Chiefs and Eagles rematch didn't come out on top.
Instead, it's the no. 4 overall game on the list.
What's even more curious is the fact that the game between Philly and the Detroit Lions is at no. 2 on the list, even above the rematch of the Super Bowl.
In a way, this makes sense since the Super Bowl was such a lopsided affair. It might have been fun for Eagles fans, but for Chiefs Kingdom? Yikes.
On the other hand, maybe that's even more reason to put it higher up on the list. The revenge factor from a player like Patrick Mahomes cannot be overstated. As much as the Eagles would love to blow out the Chiefs in this rematch, it's probably not going to happen.
Mahomes won't let it happen.
For that reason, alone, this should be the number one game circled on the Eagles' 2025 schedule.
Are the fans ready for a much closer contest?
