Eagles general manager Howie Roseman hints at possible Day 1 draft plan

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is a mastermind when it comes to conducting trades during the NFL draft, and it's very possible he could be cooking something up as early as Day 1 of this year's draft.

Roseman met with the media nine days before next week's draft, and he didn't rule out trading up from No. 32 overall.

“For me, I think that being aggressive has always been part of my DNA, and I feel fortunate that I have people around me who support that in Nick (Sirianni) and Jeffrey (Lurie), and it allows us to take chances and to try to be aggressive,” Roseman said.

Over 14 seasons as a general manager, Roseman has conducted roughly 47 draft weekend trades, and there is no doubt that he will add to that number this year with 20 total picks in his pocket to play with over the next two drafts.

While Roseman is always down for a trade, he plans to use his extra draft capital wisely, especially considering the Eagles must start planning for the future of their team with more veterans expected to depart next year.

“Picks are valuable,” Roseman said. “You can use them to, obviously, pick players, use them to trade for players, (or) you can package them to move up in the draft. The more picks you take, the more chance you have of hitting on players. Where we are right now, we have a lot of really good players who have earned their paychecks. We want to get as many young, talented players on this roster as we can to add competition, which is one of Coach’s core values."
