Eagles' pressure meter to win Super Bowl in 2025 is hitting dangerous levels

Just because a team wins a Super Bowl doesn't mean that they are out of the woods of pressure.

This applies to the Philadelphia Eagles, who followed a memorable 14-3 regular season with a victory that culminated in them holding the Lombardi Trophy. While the pressure was much higher last year with jobs on the line, there is a different kind of pressure entering 2025.

Bleacher Report writer Moe Moton included the Eagles in his list of top Super Bowl contenders and what the pressure meter is at with each. Philadelphia was given a pressure meter of eight out of 10 with the expectations even higher for them to repeat.

"The Eagles are trying to accomplish a rare feat among Super Bowl winners. While they face the pressure of success, coaches and executives aren't heading into the season on the hot seat or facing public scrutiny for years of playoff letdowns.

Since 2017, Philadelphia has made three Super Bowl appearances, winning two of them. The organization has a high standard. This year, the pressure on the club to win another title comes from the desire to replicate the success of a Super Bowl-winning campaign."

How much pressure is there truly on the Eagles to win the Super Bowl again?

Last year was a much different story with the pressure. The Eagles were coming off a disappointing 11-6 record that saw the team lose six of their last seven games, including a blowout playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was on the hottest seat in the NFL, and quarterback Jalen Hurts was not living up to his massive contract extension.

Arguably, the pressure was even higher going into their bye week after a blowout loss to, once again, the Buccaneers. The Eagles were 2-2 with Sirianni facing even more criticism. Philadelphia went on to win all but one game and beat three of their four playoff opponents by double digits to win the Super Bowl.

With Sirianni on a new contract extension, things don't feel the same in 2025 as they did last year, but the pressure remains. One thing fans of the Eagles want to see more of is consistency, which was not evident until previous year under Sirianni.

Philadelphia expects its football team to be in the running for a Super Bowl every year, as that's what the city is accustomed to. The Eagles have only had five losing seasons since 2000. Not many teams can claim to have achieved that kind of success over the last two-plus decades.

Anything short of a Super Bowl title this year would be considered a failure with everything the Eagles have going for them. 10 of their 11 starters on offense from last year are back, and the defense is filled with young talent that will be playing in Philadelphia for a long time.

The pressure is nowhere near what it was last year, but there are still high expectations for the Eagles to return to the Super Bowl and win it.
