Easton Cowan and Fraser Minten Headline Invitees to Maple Leafs 2024 Development Camp, Full Roster

   

The festivities kick off Wednesday (July 3) and will run until July 7 with a total of 46 prospects in attendance.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are preparing for their annual Development Camp, which begins Wednesday (July 3) and runs until July 7. On Tuesday, the club announced in an official statement on ‘X’ the expected roster for the event, highlighting the attendance of 46 prospects.

An article posted on the Maple Leafs’ site on NHL.com provided insight into the early stages of the event. Starting Tuesday, July 2, players will undergo medicals and evaluation before the first full-team, on-ice session and media availability at the Ford Performance Centre on Wednesday, July 3.

Of the 46 players set to partake in this year’s development camp, there will be 27 forwards, 15 defensemen, and four goaltenders. Prospects ranging from the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 NHL Entry Draft classes are set to be full participants. 

Here is a breakdown of each drafted prospect from their respective draft year, position, and league.

2020: Artur Akhtyamov (G, VHL), John Fusco (RHD, ECAC), Joe Miller (F, ECAC)

2021: Vyacheslav Peksa (G, ECHL)

2022: Nikita Grebenkin (F, KHL), Brandon Lisowsky (F, WHL), Fraser Minten (F, WHL), Nicholas Moldenhauer (F, Big 10)

2023: Easton Cowan (F, OHL), Hudson Malinoski (F, H-East), Noah Chadwick (LHD, WHL)

2024: Miroslav Holinka (F, CZE-Jr.), Sam McCue (F, OHL), Ben Danford (D, OHL), Victor Johansson (LHD, J20), Matthew Lahey (LHD, BCHL), Nathan Mayes (LHD, WHL)

Aside from these 17 draftees, the roster includes three players signed to an NHL contract: Braeden Kressler, Jacob Quillan, and Cade Webber. Additionally, five players signed to AHL contracts have also been invited: Matthew Barbolini, Jacob Bengtsson, Chas Sharpe, Marko Sikic, and Sam Stevens will be in attendance.

The Leafs have also invited a total of 22 free agents to attend this year’s development camp. 

Hayley Wickenheiser, the Maple Leafs' Assistant General Manager of Player Development, along with her staff, will oversee this year's camp again this season.

As mentioned, the players will report to Ford Performance Centre starting Tuesday for medicals and testing, followed by the camp from July 3-7.
