Edmonton Oilers clinch berth to Stanley Cup Final for first time in McDavid era

Moments ago, the Edmonton Oilers held on for a close victory to eliminate the Dallas Stars in six games, and clinch their berth to the Stanley Cup Final.

Connor McDavid scored in the first five minutes of the game on the powerplay, and it was one of the best of his entire career. The Oilers added one more on the powerplay, but then played a tight defensive game until the 2-1 final decision.

Stuart Skinner answered any question about his ability to play under pressure with perhaps the best game of his career at the best time. The Oilers had less than 10 shots on goal for most of the game, but Dallas had their opportunities that Skinner continually denied. In the final minutes as Dallas frantically pushed for a goal, Skinner was a primary reason the Oilers pulled off the win.

Now, the Oilers and their fans have their sights set on the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final. For the first time in his career, the best player in hockey - Connor McDavid - will be on the biggest stage in the NHL. For every single hockey fan, this will be an amazing sight to see. For Oil Country, it's a long time coming, and it's well deserved.
