The Canucks knew what they were getting into when they pulled a blockbuster transaction to fetch the centerman Elias Lindholm out of Calgary.
As it turns out, the got exactly what they asked for, but with the season coming to an end a little early, Lindholm may not be in Vancouver for as long as the Canucks' management could've hoped for. Lindholm is headed for free agency and has it turns out, he's already packing his bags.

Through her Instagram account, his wife posted pictures confirming that they'd be departing Vancouver.
A fan asked why they couldn't stay in Vancouver and her wife kindly responded explaining the reality of NHL player's life and their contractual situation:
Hopefully this isn't a permanent goodbye. Even though he is taken off, it doesn't mean he won't be back to Vancouver when training camp start.
At this point, it's evident that Elias Lindholm will be in an NHL locker when the 2024-2025 season kicks off, his strong playoffs performance have not only guaranteed that, but they also guaranteed a very important raise to his current cap hit.
Whether or not the Canucks will have what it takes to bring him back remains a mistery. Hopefully he enjoyed his time with the Canucks to consider coming back.
