The Cleveland Browns have undergone several roster changes this offseason.
Most notably, the offense will look very different without Nick Chubb, who is currently set to be not on the team for the first time since before 2018. The Browns also chose not to re-sign veteran wide receiver Elijah Moore, who was a starter for the team.
Moore recently signed with the Buffalo Bills, where he will have the opportunity to play alongside quarterback Josh Allen. Since joining the Bills, Moore appeared to take a subtle shot at the Browns.
“It’s really just an earn-it thing. When you play football, you can’t promise anything to anyone,” Moore said recently. “For me, my whole career, I haven’t had too many great opportunities with a stable QB. It seems like I’m playing with five QBs every single season.”
The Browns indeed rotated through multiple quarterbacks again last season. Deshaun Watson, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and Jameis Winston all took snaps under center. In total, Cleveland started five different quarterbacks during a season in which they still managed to win 11 games and reach the playoffs.
Moore spent two seasons with the Browns, posting a career-high 640 receiving yards in 2023 before regressing slightly to 538 yards in 2024. Despite being a second-round pick by the New York Jets in the 2021 NFL Draft, Moore has yet to fully meet the expectations that followed him into the league.
So far this offseason, the Browns have not drafted a wide receiver and have only signed Diontae Johnson to help replace Moore. Johnson has faced questions about his locker room fit in the past, which will be something to monitor moving forward.
One thing is certain: Elijah Moore is eager for the opportunity to play with the most talented quarterback he’s had in his NFL career.
