Elliotte Friedman Reveals the Harsh Meetings in Vegas After Playoff Loss to Edmonton

The Vegas Golden Knights fell in dominant fashion in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and now we know of a brutal meeting that took place after their series loss.

Coming into the 2024/25 season, the Vegas Golden Knights had incredibly high hopes, but in the end, they fell short as they were absolutely dominated by the rival Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Semi-Finals.

Not only were they beaten, but they were destroyed in every game, and after the series was over, there was reportedly some very blunt meetings to be had in the locker room.

Two things are true today: The Edmonton Oilers have defeated the Vegas Golden Knights to advance to the Western Conference Final, and karma is indeed a ruthless bitch. : r/DallasStars

That is according to Insider Elliotte Friedman, who detailed these harsh meetings that have motivated the team coming into the summer as they've already gotten better in their pursuit of a Stanley Cup.

So one of the things I heard actually was those were some pretty harsh meetings during and after (the VGK vs EDM series). They were disappointed. I think everybody was disappointed. Not that they lost, but they got manhandled. And I think the management was mad. I think the coaching staff was mad.

I think the players were mad. And I heard it was B-L-U-N-T, Blunt. And I think there was some understanding that some of those guys were really beaten up. But I think everybody knew how everybody felt about the way they got dominated by the Oilers. We'll be motivating for them.

As Friedman notes, there were plenty of players banged up, but given the star power this team has, going out like that wasn't acceptable to the team, the coaching staff or the front office, who have been known to be brutal in their handling of the team thus far as they chase Stanley Cup glory.

Ultimately, this led them to the move for Mitch Marner, and they're likely to make another move or two this off-season, with these blunt meetings potentially leading to something special in the years to come.
