Emily Simpson Rejects Accusations Her In-Laws Fund Her Lifestyle

There are endless ways to fund the lifestyle of a Real Housewife. You could rely on a rich husband or perhaps defraud the elderly. Some Housewives run businesses while others come from generational wealth. In Emily Simpon’s case, there’s been a big question mark over her finances. What does she do exactly?

When we first met her in Season 13 of RHOC, she introduced herself as a lawyer and party planner. That’s nice and all, but it doesn’t necessarily explain the extravagant lifestyle we’ve seen on The Real Housewives of Orange County. It doesn’t add up, and some fans have suspected that her in-laws were responsible for keeping up her lifestyle. Now, Emily is shutting that rumor down once and for all.

The accusation about Shane Simpson’s family funding Emily’s lifestyle was brought up again during the Real Housewives of Orange County Season 18 reunion. Emily was trying to drag Jennifer Pedranti for her financial issues when she got hit with a clapback.

“Then I’m sorry, I’ve read that your in-laws fund your whole life,” Jennifer quipped.

After the episode aired, Emily took to her Instagram Story to respond to the accusation. She’s probably praying that this rumor stops following her once and for all.

“If my in-laws ‘funded our lifestyle’ I’d be living WAY larger than I am right now. I’d be on private jets with Heather Dubrow,” Emily wrote. “They do not.”

Thanks, Emily! This does, however, leave us with a lingering question. How does Emily afford her fancy lifestyle? Allegedly, it’s a combination of her Bravo salary, law career, and party-planning business. Plus, once Shane finally passed the bar exam, he started bringing in some cash, too.

So, the Simpsons might not be on the same status as the Dubrows, but they can definitely fend for themselves. Even if Emily and Shane do get some help from the in-laws, who cares? We’ve seen plenty of Housewives do worse for money.

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Bravo Thursday nights at 9/8c.
