The Atlanta Falcons are widely expected to be contenders in the NFC South. If they are, their offense, led by young quarterback Michael Penix Jr., must find success. Former first-round tight end Kyle Pitts is still in the cards when it comes to their depth chart as of now.
Will that change in the coming months? Does it make sense for them to move Pitts? Which teams could go after the athletic pass catcher?
Should the Falcons trade Kyle Pitts?
In a recent article from ESPN, Aaron Schatz evaluated and proposed one move for each NFL team to make this offseason.
Trade tight end Kyle Pitts
Pitts has never matched the heights of his 1,026-yard rookie season, nor has he matched expectations as the No. 4 overall pick. It's very unlikely that the Falcons extend or re-sign him after the 2025 season, so perhaps the best thing is to get some value for him now and let him see what he can do with a change of scenery.
The Jets might be an interesting landing spot for Pitts, as he could play next to rookie Mason Taylor in two-TE sets. The Giants could also use an upgrade at the position. Even the Eagles might be an interesting trade target, as Dallas Goedert is now 30 years old.

There are probably plenty of teams that would make a move for the athletic wonder that Pitts is at the tight end position. That being said, the true for Atlanta may not be quite what they hope for when it comes to the former first-round selection.
Landing spots for Kyle Pitts in a trade
Kyle Crabbs recently detailed five different teams that would make sense as a landing spot for Pitts in a deal. Check out the reasoning for those squads here.
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- Tennessee Titans
- Los Angeles Chargers
- New York Jets
- New England Patriots
The Falcons used Pitts much more frequently underneath in 2024 in their new offensive scheme under offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. His slot usage and perimeter usage on passing downs were both at an all-time low in 2024 and nearly 40% of his pass routes came from an in-line position. -- Kyle Crabbs
We will see if the Falcons take this advice from ESPN or choose to give him one more chance to prove himself in their offense. Pitts' inconsistency is one of the most confusing narratives when it comes to offense around the league, but he's probably looking to prove plenty of folks wrong in 2025.
