Linus Ullmark (© Bob DeChiara-Imagn Images)Former Boston Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark had a tough beginning to the post-season with the Ottawa Senators. The 31-year-old goaltender lost his first three starts of the series, but he has now been bouncing back.
In Game 4 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ullmark stopped 31 out of 34 shots in the Senators' win. However, he took his game to a whole new level in Game 5 and simply dominated for the Senators.
In Game 5 against the Maple Leafs, Ullmark put together a 29-save shutout in Ottawa's 4-0 win. With this, the Senators are now only down 3-2 in the series and have the opportunity to tie it back up with another win in Game 6.
Ullmark having a performance like this was undoubtedly needed for the Senators. With it, they have now created hope for themselves again and have plenty of momentum heading into Game 6. It will now be interesting to see if Ullmark can stay hot in that matchup from here.
With this strong performance for the Senators in Game 5, Ullmark now has a 2.80 save percentage and a .883 save percentage in five appearances this post-season. While his numbers are still below expectations, he is trending in the right direction at the perfect time for the Senators.
In three seasons with the Bruins from 2021-22 to 2023-24, Ullmark had an 88-26-10 record, a .924 save percentage, and a 2.28 goals-against average. He also memorably won the Vezina Trophy and William M. Jennings Trophy in 2023 while with the Original Six club.
