Ex-Bruins Star Named Trade Candidate

This former Bruin could be on the move this offseason.

The 2024 NHL Offseason is expected to bring several changes around the league. It is the perfect time for clubs to make roster adjustments, and trade talk is already heating up because of it.

Because of this, NHL insider Frank Seravalli has released his latest Trade Targets board. Torey Krug, a former Boston Bruins star, made the cut for his list.

Krug, 33, has been the subject of trade chatter for quite some time. The veteran defenseman notably blocked a trade to the Philadelphia Flyers last offseason.

The Blues are in a retooling period, so it makes sense that Krug is once again the subject of trade speculation. However, moving the Michigan native comes with some obstacles, as he has a $6.5 million cap hit until the end of the 2026-27 season and a full no-trade clause this offseason.

If the Blues could convince Krug to waive his NTC, there could be some interest around the league for his services. This is especially true if the Blues clarify that they are open to retaining a portion of his salary.

Krug still produces well from the point offensively, and last season was no different. In 77 games, the left-shot defender had four goals to go along with 39 points.

It will be intriguing to see if the former Bruin finds a new home this summer from here.
