For several weeks now, General Hospital‘s Willow has been a woman living on the edge. But what happens this week could not only push her over the precipice but wind up costing her everything. And it all starts when yet another person accuses her of caring more for the man she recently left at the altar than her own kids.
“To be fair,” says her portrayer, Katelyn MacMullen, “she did stand by Drew for a really long time, even as everyone was warning her not to. But for a while there, she just genuinely believed that he was the only one being honest with her. She started to distrust the town at large.” She adds that in a town full of mobsters, including ex-husband Michael’s dad, “Willow kinda thought Drew was normal by comparison!”
As time went on, the actress says that Willow and Drew “almost formed an us-against-the-world alliance. So it was devastating to find out that the people she’d distrusted were actually right all along!”
This week, with the visitation hearing rapidly approaching, Willow is understandably on edge. “She’s so paranoid and trying to do the ‘right’ things to make sure things go her way during this hearing.” But when Lucas misinterprets something and says exactly the wrong thing at exactly the wrong time, it leads to a confrontation which could have devastating consequences for Willow.
“Because of her hyper-sensitive, paranoid state, she reads way too much into it,” previews MacMullen, adding with a laugh, “It turns into an epic fail!”
Is Willow Going To Be Fired?
It doesn’t take long for the stressed-out nurse to realize just how big a mistake she’s made. “She’s terrified,” admits MacMullen. “And she’s shocked by her own behavior. This is the last thing she wanted to do, given that her whole motivation is to present herself in the best possible light. Now, she’s yet again acting completely out of character. I don’t think she even recognizes herself at times like this.”
Worse, her actions could wind up costing Willow her job at the hospital! “That’s the only thing she really has left to keep her sane right now, so losing it would be kinda the worst possible scenario,” the actress sighs. “It starts to feel as if she’s dug a hole she won’t be able to climb out of!”
