Falcons QB Kirk Cousins Put on Notice by Raheem Morris After Beating Raiders

The Atlanta Falcons squeaked by the Las Vegas Raiders 15-9 on Monday night but Kirk Cousins' play left much to be desired.

Cousins posted one of his worst stat lines of the season in the uneventful prime-time matchup. Atlanta's 36-year-old QB completed just 11 passes for 112 yards with a touchdown and interception.

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris did not hold back on Cousins after the game.

"He’s got to play better. We have to find a way to get him to play better," Morris said. "We have to play better at the quarterback position."

The win snapped the Falcons' four-game losing streak, but Cousins' rough run continues. His touchdown pass against the Raiders was his first since Nov. 3. Cousins has passed for 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions this season, nine of which came over the last five weeks.

Cousins didn't disagree with his head coach about his recent stretch of play.

“It's stating the obvious," Cousins said.

Cousins signed with the Falcons this offseason after being released by the Minnesota Vikings. He inked a four-year, $180 million contract with a $50 million signing bonus.

There has been some talk about the Falcons turning to rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who the team drafted with the No. 8 overall pick in this year's draft.

However, Cousins and the Falcons did just enough to win, and they are still within striking distance of the NFC South title.
