When The Real Housewives of Potomac burst onto the scene back in 2016, the show became an instant favorite with fans, offering a fresh new set of characters following a five-year drought of Bravo launching new franchises. In the eight years since it's premiere, only two of the original RHOP housewives have left, making the cast one of the most consistent in Real Housewives history. However, after eight years, perhaps things tend to get a little stagnant.

Whether it's because we know the RHOP women so well, the fact that they're competing with fresher casts like those in Salt Lake City or the rebooted New York City, or just a lack of interesting plot lines, Season 8 of RHOP was a bit of a flop. Now that the season has wrapped, however, many wonder if it's not time for Potomac to get a bit of a face lift.

Will The Real Housewives of Potomac return for Season 9?

Technically, Bravo has not announced a new season of RHOP yet, but it would be shocking if the series was cancelled outright. Only two Real Housewives franchises have ever been cancelled, and neither had been around nearly as long as Potomac.

When does The Real Housewives of Potomac come back?

Season 9 has not begun filming yet, so we won't be seeing new RHOP episodes for quite a while. Most likely Season 9 will premiere sometime in 2025.

Who is in the cast of The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9?

Bravo has not made any casting announcements for RHOP Season 9 yet, but Candiace Dillard Bassett (who joined in Season 3) announced the day after the Season 8 finale that she will not be back for Season 9.

“As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey,” she told People on March 25, 2024. ”With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from RHOP.”

Other updates to the cast have not been made at this point. Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Robyn Dixon and Karen Huger have each appeared on all eight seasons of the show, so the departure of any of the OG women would certainly be newsworthy. The Season 8 cast also included Dillard Bassett, Wendy Osefo (who joined in Season 5), Mia Thornton (from Season 6) and newcomer Nneka Ihim. RHOP hasn't had much turnover in eight years, so big changes could prove controversial.

Dillard Bassett announced on March 25, 2024, that she would not be returning for Season 9, explaining that she has "new opportunities and responsibilities" to focus on. However, she did not rule out a return to the show. “This is not a farewell, but a ‘see you later,'" she said.

Bravo has yet to release any news regarding new housewives for Season 9. Since the Season 8 cast included eight housewives and two friends of, it seems unlikely that anyone new will be joining unless an old cast member leaves.
