‘Fire Country’ and ‘Sheriff Country’ Set Premiere Dates — But There's a Catch

Gather around, Fire Country fans, the date has been set for our return to Edgewater. Soon, we’ll finally get answers to those burning questions left hanging after that shocking Season 3 finale. CBS has released its fall schedule for several of its biggest shows, including Fire Country and its highly anticipated spin-off, Sheriff Country. The network had previously confirmed that both series would air back-to-back this fall, and while the schedule keeps that promise, it comes with a slight twist that could shape how the new season unfolds. These premiere dates arrive on the heels of a recently announced special event, where CBS will reveal more details about what audiences can expect from Sheriff Country.

The premiere date was first revealed in an Instagram post on the show’s official account. “Mark your calendars… 🗓️ ✍️ because NOTHING will be the same starting on Friday, Oct. 17. Race ya there?” the caption teased, alongside new images of Max Thieriot’s Bode and Morena Baccarin’s Sheriff Mickey Fox. CBS followed up the next day with an official announcement, sharing more details, including a temporary change to the timeslot. For the premiere week, Fire Country and its spin-off will swap placesFire Country will air at 8/7c, allowing fans to learn Vince Leone’s fate after the Bella Vista accident before diving into the debut of Sheriff Country at 9/8c. Starting the following week, both shows will settle into their regular slots, with Sheriff Country leading off at 8/7c and Fire Country returning to its usual 9/8c time.

Crossovers are a hallmark of shows set in the same universe, and with Fire Country and its new spin-off both set in the small town of Edgewater, audiences can expect plenty of crossover moments. These interactions will allow the spin-off to dive deeper into aspects of characters and storylines not fully explored in the main series. In a recent featurette, Thieriot teased the dynamic, explaining: "Because this is the same town, this is the same community, we'll get to see our characters overlap, even outside of our regular characters. Now we get to see them maybe in a different light than we've seen them on Fire Country, maybe doing illegal things. And so it's really kind of just building out that community and having this bigger picture of the sense of place. So audiences really feel like they have a complete understanding of the town."

To build excitement, CBS will air a series of Fire Country reruns this Friday, accompanied by bonus content in the form of a featurette. Thieriot and Baccarin will guide viewers through the new spin-off that will follow Sheriff Fox as she strives to maintain law and order within Edgewater while battling personal issues of her own.

Fire Country Season 4 and Sheriff Country Season 1 both premiere on Friday, October 17. Stay tuned for future updates.
