Fire Country Season 4: Confirmation, Cast & Everything We Know

CBS' hit procedural series Fire Country has burned up the ratings across its three seasons thus far, and now the firefighting drama has been renewed for season 4. Debuting in 2022 and created by Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, the series concerns inmate firefighter Bode (Thieriot), who helps battle California's mighty wildfires in order to shorten his prison sentence. Not only does Fire Country capture the high-stakes and excitement of firefighting, the drama also delves into the lives of the characters, and explores a myriad of social issues that actually affect the volunteers of the California Conservation Camp Program.

Besides the fires which put Bode and his team's lives in danger week after week, Fire Country has a wealth of storylines that keep the excitement high. The firefighter has made big strides in his personal life across the show's three seasons thus far, but the tragedy that concluded Fire Country season 3 threatens to undermine all of Bode's hard work. With the drama still at a fever pitch, CBS has renewed the series for a fourth season, but there are going to be some major changes when Fire Country finally returns.

Two Original Cast Members Are Departing

Following an explosive season finale, the latest news confirms that two original cast members won't be returning for Fire Country season 4. Despite helping to carry the show since the premiere episode, Billy Burke and Stephanie Arcila will not be returning as Fire Battalion Chief Vince Leone and Gabriela Perez, respectively, in season 4. Vince's life was left hanging in the balance after the season 3 finale, and it can be assumed his character will be killed off. However, Gabriela's exit is somewhat unprompted, and is also likely less permanent.

The series' co-creator and executive producer Tony Phelan was hopeful that Arcila will return to reprise her role in a guest capacity in the future, and he promised that "the Bode-Gabriela story does not end here." However, it's unclear how her exit will be handled in the upcoming season, or how her return could also be factored into the ongoing narrative.

This not only proves the tremendous confidence that the network has in the series, but also suggests that Fire Country could become a long-running hit for the network.

Though the news wasn't all that surprising considering the series' overwhelming popularity, it was still a small shock when CBS renewed a large swath of its primetime slate in February 2025. With a few episodes left in the show's third season, Fire Country season 4 was ordered by CBS. This not only proves the tremendous confidence that the network has in the series, but also suggests that Fire Country could become a long-running hit for the network. More information about season 4 is expected to arrive in the weeks following season 3's finale.

Fire Country season 3 concluded on April 25, 2025.

A Changing Cast For Season 4

The rich ensemble of Fire Country has grown across its three seasons thus far, and things aren't expected to change going into season 4. Season 3's finale left a few fates hanging in the balance, and it's already been confirmed that several main cast members won't be coming back. However, Max Theriot will return as troubled former inmate firefighter, Bode Donovan, and the series co-creator and star still has a lot to do before the show concludes. Unfortunately, Stephanie Arcilla will be departing from the role of Gabriela Perez, though a future return isn't off the table.

Another crucial exit is that of Billy Burke as Fire Battalion Chief Vince Leone, and it can be assumed that his character will be killed off after the roof collapse in the season 3 finale. Sharon (Diane Farr) and Walter (Jeff Fahey) were also caught in the collapse, but the former is expected to pull through since she's set to appear in the spinoff, Sheriff Country. Meanwhile, the final fate of Vince's father, Walter, will likely be left uncertain until the premiere of season 4.

Supernatural alum Jared Padalecki joined the show in season 3 as veteran firefighter, Camden, and with his character potentially earning his own spinoff, he's expected to appear in season 4. Likewise, Morena Baccarin's Sheriff Mickey should also pop back in if Fire Country crosses over with Sheriff Country. New additions could always happen as well, but it's too soon to guess who that would be.

Bode Will Fight Fires In His Professional & Personal Life

Max Thieriot as Bode Leone in Fire Country season 3 episode 20-2

Not to be outdone by previous season finales, the conclusion of Fire Country season 3 was a shocking and heartbreaking ride. Bode disobeyed strict orders and entered the burning Buena Vista nursing home to help, and this prompted some of his teammates to come to his aid. Unfortunately, Vince, Sharon, and Walter were all still inside Buena Vista when its roof collapsed, putting all three in an unlikely survival situation. With Billy Burke not returning in season 4, it can be assumed that Vince dies. However, Sharon will likely pull through while it's unclear what will happen to Walter.

This will have a profound effect on Bode, and it may even undo the years of progress he's made since the beginning of the show. On the home front, Gabriela won't be returning in season 4 either, though her character is being written out and not killed. Why she's leaving is currently uncertain, though it may actively factor into the storyline of season 4. Speaking of which, Bode will have to pick up the pieces and decide his future, and Vince's possible death could see him reevaluating his life in Fire Country season 4.
