Fire Country Season 4 Is About To Make This Divisive Character Its Most Important

So much happened in Fire Country season 3’s finale, but a detail in particular hints at one controversial character becoming more important in season 4. Fire Country season 3, episodes 19 and 20 focused on the multiple dangers threatening Fire Country’s characters, including the Zabel Ridge fire and Gabriela’s stalker Finn, who was believed to be on the run, only to surprise everyone when he reappeared around Station 42. In the maelstrom of Cal Fire’s weakened response to the Zabel Ridge fire hitting Edgewater on multiple sides, some characters ended up losing the most in Fire Country season 3’s ending.

The Leones were amongst the most unfortunate in Fire Country season 3’s finale, with the entire family involved in the Buena Vista rescue operation without the proper gear or support. With the fate of Vince, Sharon and Walter unknown after the building collapse in Fire Country season 3’s very ending, the losses could be enormous once season 4 returns. However, the fire’s lethality also hit Three Rock, with the fire camp destroyed in Fire Country season 3’s finale. This risks changing Fire Country definitively in season 4, if it weren’t for one character who could connect it to inmate firefighting.

Audrey Needs To Face The Consequences Of Shooting At Finn

Audrey’s arrival in Fire Country season 3 immediately revealed how her past included a stint in a fire camp, with the experience letting her fall in love with firefighting and informing her decision to try getting into the training for ex-inmate firefighters time and time again before succeeding. Audrey’s initial distrust of Bode even highlighted a direct connection with Three Rock, as she mentioned her call with Big Mike to scare Bode during the firing squad determining whether he’d join the Cal Fire training program. With Three Rock destroyed, Audrey’s arrest can make her a direct connection to inmate firefighting.

While less central compared to other events in Fire Country season 3’s finale, Audrey’s arrest can fundamentally change the trajectory of her story. After all, Audrey only expected to keep Gabriela company. Instead, she found herself tased by Finn, and with few options that she could pursue to protect herself and Gabriela from Finn. Shooting at him, even in self-defense, will undoubtedly have consequences for Audrey, and they can be extremely dire given her past. Inmate Firefighting Programs Were Always At The Heart Of Fire Country

Three Rock and the inmate firefighting program at large have always been a key theme of Fire Country. Bode being the firefighting drama’s protagonist and getting shipped to Three Rock effectively started Fire Country, with his struggles at the fire camp shaping the story as much as his personal relationships and connections to Edgewater. Bode’s graduation at the end of Fire Country season 2 already endangered how season 3 could tell the story of Three Rock’s inmates, but the problem was circumvented through Manny’s one-year sentence at Three Rock.

Fire Country season 3’s finale severed the firefighting drama’s connection to Three Rock via Cole’s graduation, which removed yet another character close to Bode from the inmate firefighting context, and the very destruction of the fire camp, condemning Ames, Big Mike, and the others to probably return to prison. Audrey being potentially sentenced to spend time in a fire camp like Black Creek can overcome the obstacle created by Three Rock’s destruction, bringing the inmate firefighters’ perspective to the center of the story in Fire Country season 4.

Such a development can be a step back in Audrey’s overall redemption story, but it can make her Fire Country role much larger. Like Manny’s incarceration made his story one of Fire Country season 3’s key ones, Audrey finding herself back at the starting point can put her struggles at the center of season 4. Indeed, especially considering how Audrey got to Edgewater at a time when things were going better for her, returning to a fire camp can add depth to Audrey’s story in Fire Country season 4.

Audrey’s possible punishment can also completely change her and Bode’s relationship. The whole reason Bode pursued a relationship with Audrey was their common intention to build a stable life now that prison was firmly in their past, something he couldn’t do with Gabriela because she wasn’t looking for a serious relationship. However, Audrey potentially returning to a fire camp can put Bode in Gabriela’s shoes when she waited for him to parole in season 1, introducing hurdles to Bode and Audrey’s relationship and showing a different side of Bode in Fire Country season 4.
