Why Is Fire Country Not on Tonight?
CBS is taking a regular scheduling break, with Fire Country set to return for Episode 16, titled “Dirty Money,” on April 4, 2025. The season is set to have a total of 20 episodes, which means after this two-week break, the show will run uninterrupted episodes until April 25, when it will air its two-hour season finale. That’s a little bit of an early finale for the show, but it’s not unheard of. Most of the CBS slate is ending either late in April or early in May this year. Fire Country‘s break also comes after CBS canceled four other primetime shows, including three procedurals: S.W.A.T., FBI: International, FBI: Most Wanted, and The Neighborhood.
While Fire Country has yet to be renewed for a fifth season, as of writing, the series will likely return as CBS prepares for the premiere of Fire Country‘s first spinoff, Sheriff Country, in the fall of 2025. A second Fire Country spinoff, Fire Country: Surfside, starring Jared Padalecki’s Captain Camden Casey, is also in the works.
Bode and Gabriela in Fire Country
Last we saw on the show, Bode (Max Thieriot) and Audrey’s (Leven Rambin) relationship has been going pretty well, though Audrey has started to suspect Bode might be keeping secrets from her after he showed up with a suspicious injury on his hand. Considering the parole officer, she’s probably right. Then there’s Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila), who has a new love interest and who seems to be trying really hard to move on from Bode. With the two of them, that never really works, but we will see. They’ve ended each season back in each other’s orbit, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the Season 3 cliffhanger involved their relationship in some way, once again.
Jake (Jordan Calloway) also has a new love interest, it just so happens that his new love interest just got a new job with the company that’s suspected of poisoning the water that almost killed all the Three Rock inmates, including Manny (Kevin Alejandro), Gabriela’s dad. So, we’re not sure how that relationship is going to go. Jake doesn’t know about the problems with the company yet, but we’re pretty sure that’s going to be a big storyline going forward.
And Vince (Billy Burke) and Sharon (Diane Farr) have had to deal with putting Walter (Jeff Fahey), Vince’s father, in a home because he’s not well enough to live with them and take care of himself. It’s a lot of complicated situations, and though Walter is mostly dealt with, he also feels like a loose end that might end up becoming a problem for the family once more. He could run out of the home and get in trouble. He could somehow end up in the middle of the Three Rock problem. Both of those things could end up being true at once. Plus, there could even be a fire involved. This is Fire Country, after all.
That, plus the strange love triangle between Gabriela, Audrey, and Bode and whatever trouble Bode is in with the pills he’s been hiding and the criminals he’s supposedly associating with, paint quite an interesting picture for the show in the last few weeks before the two-hour finale. But we’ll have to wait a few more weeks to find out what’s coming, with the show being on a break still.
