First Look: Teddi Mellencamp Steps Out Amid Heartbreaking Stage 4 Cancer Battle

Teddi Mellencamp isn't letting her devastating recent health update keeping her from living her life.

The 43-year-old former Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star looked somber as she headed out from her home in Los Angeles on Friday.

It marked the first time Teddi has been spotted in person since she revealed that her cancer has now progressed to stage 4 earlier this week.

Stage 4 cancer is the most advanced and serious stage of cancer, and it indicates that the cancer has spread beyond its original site to other parts of the body.

She could be seen stopping to take a phone call and sitting down on the curb in what appeared to be an emotional moment.

The reality star — who said this week that she is preparing her children 'for the worst' — shared in an interview with Us Weekly that her melanomas have metastasized to her brain and lungs.

I had six brain tumors and two lung tumors; they all came from melanoma that metastasized into these tumors inside of my body,' she told the publication.

Following the interview, Teddi shared that doctors had discovered four additional brain tumors.

Despite the terrible news, she managed to rock a casual-cool look with an intriguing cropped beige cardigan with jacket-like breast pockets.

She contrasted it with a simple black shirt, baggy pale-blue jeans and black Adidas trainers that gave her some skater style.

Teddi blocked out the sun with a tan LA Dodgers baseball cap, and she accessorized with an enormous off-white Balmain tote bag with pink leather trim and straps that was nearly spilling over with her belongings.

She appeared to be waiting for a car to pick her up, but before it arrived she stopped for a phone call and took a seat on the curb next to her driveway.

At one point she concerningly hunched over during the conversation.

Teddi recently showed the strain her latest cancer update has caused in an interaction on Instagram.

Teddi recently showed the strain her latest cancer update has caused in an interaction on Instagram. She called out a user who said her stage 4 cancer was terminal, although that is not always the case

After revealing that her cancer had progressed to stage 4, she was inundated with distressing comments from users who speculated that her cancer was now 'terminal.'

Teddi shared a screenshot of one of those comments with her reply in her Instagram Stories on Thursday.

'This is so hearbreaking. Typically, stage four cancer is terminal especially with metastasis,' the commenter wrote. 'Praying that Teddi heals and is an outlier.'

Although stage 4 cancer has the highest mortality rates compared to early stage and is the most serious, requiring the most significant treatments, it is not always terminal.

'These kind of comments make me really sad,' Teddi responded . 'I know people are trying to help but heart breaking for me to read.

'Of course I know the chances but I truly believe with my whole heart. I will beat this and watch my kids graduate,' she continued defiantly, before adding some much-needed humor. 'Vent on the pod and have everyone get mad at me. Annoy my siblings by reminding everyone I am the favorite. Etc.'

Teddi shares three children — daughters Slate, 12; and Dove, five; and son Cruz, 10 — with her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave, who has been living with her at their home to help care for their children as she undergoes cancer treatments.

Teddi also looked on the bright side on Thursday when she posted a video of herself ringing a bell at the hospital after getting her 'graduation papers.'

Teddi also looked on the bright side on Thursday when she posted a video of herself ringing a bell at the hospital after getting her 'graduation papers.' She had finished radiation treatment and was moving on to '5 more rounds of immunotherapy'

She wrote that 'ringing the bell can signify a major phase of treatment,' and she had just undergone her 'last day of radiation.'

After reading the plaque by the bell aloud in a halting speech, Teddi rang it three times to cheers from her companions.

She noted in her caption that she now has '5 more rounds of immunotherapy to go.'

Given the grim prognosis following her recent health updates, Teddi's treatment plan has changed, with daughter of John Mellencamp saying: 'I find out for sure exactly where we stand on June 1. If you need to do another round, if there’s any other surgery, if it’s the end. It’s a hard pill to swallow.

'It’s got to be extremely difficult to think about the end.'

'This is definitely the hardest thing [I’ve faced in my life], but now it feels less hard. When I was in the ICU, it was incredibly difficult because I had no memory. One day, I realized it was my daughter’s birthday, and I couldn’t be there for it; it was really sad. It’s still sad when I can’t be there for my kids the way I’d normally be.'

This comes after the star revealed the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills castmate who has abandoned her as she fights brain cancer.

Teddi shared that Garcelle Beauvais has not reached out once.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alumna, who previously said she felt she was on her 'deathbed,' has already undergone more than 20 surgeries during her two and a half year cancer battle

In a Q&A published by USWeekly on Wednesday, she revealed that Kyle Richards has been there for her from the very beginning and Garcelle Beauvais has never reached out; the season 13 cast is seen left to right - Annemarie Wiley, Erika Jayne, Dorit Kemsley, Kyle Richards, Garcelle Beauvais, Sutton Stracke, Crystal Minkoff

However, she said Kyle Richards has been there for her from the start of her cancer battle in 2022.

Teddi explained that she was having migraines earlier this year which led her to seeking professional medical help and she was diagnosed with six brain tumors and two lung tumors which came from melanoma that had metastasized into the tumors.

The RHOBH alum needed an in at premiere medical facility Cedars-Sinai hospital so she turned to one of her former castmates as she said: 'We call Kyle [Richards], and we're like, 'How do we get into Cedars?' And she called around and found a way for us to get in. Kyle saved the day.

'I believe it was within 24 hours that an incredible surgeon was able to remove four tumors from my brain. I didn't know they had been there for six months to a year, and we had no idea.'

Teddi has had many Bravo stars support her through her battle, however, she revealed one who has not even sent her a message and another who put their feud aside to reach out.

She said: 'Garcelle [Beauvais] has not reached out. Dorit [Kemsley] has now. I'm good friends with Erika [Jayne], so she said, 'Dorit does want to reach out to you now, can she?'

'I [said], 'don't know how quick I'll be to forgive, but sure.' But then her message was so nice that I have to say we'll probably be fine.'

Last week, Garcelle announced her departure from the Bravo reality series after five seasons beginning in 2020.

Teddi went on to reveal other Housewives who have rallied around her including the aforementioned Kyle.

The star said: 'Kyle has been there nonstop. My favorite part about Vicki [Gunvalson] reaching out is she sent a Housewives coloring book that I'm not in. [Laughs]

'Denise [Richards] reached out, which was also a little bit of a shocker.'

Earlier this week it was revealed that Teddi's battle with brain cancer has taken a further devastating turn - with the reality star said to be preparing her children 'for the worst.'

The RHOBH alum, who previously said she felt she was on her 'deathbed', has already undergone more than 20 surgeries during her two and a half year cancer battle.

She was initially diagnosed with melanoma but now it has spread and she recently underwent surgery to remove four tumors from her brain.

Earlier this month, more tumors were discovered in her brain and lungs which has caused the daughter of rocker John Mellencamp to face the reality that her daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, five, and son Cruz, 10, may have to face life without her in the very near future.

'Teddi is a fighter – anyone who has watched Real Housewives can attest to that,' Radar reported.
