For NFL fans, June is one of the roughest times of the year. That is because nothing is going on outside of minicamps and notable contract disputes.
Training camp tends to be the first real sign football is approaching. Earlier today, every team announced the dates their players must report to training camp. So, which team will be the first to begin? Read below to find out.
Houston Texans First Team to Report on July 17th
Earlier this morning, Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team revealed the full list of NFL training camp dates. It lists dates for both the rookies and veterans for each NFL team to report to their respective training camps.
So, which full team will be the first to begin? That would be the Houston Texans, who decided to have both rookies and veterans report to training camp on July 17th. This should not be a big surprise considering the Texans are one of the teams playing in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game this season.
Notably, the Baltimore Ravens will be the first team to have any players report to training camp. However, only their rookies report on July 13th, whereas their veterans will not report until July 20th.
Notable Players to Watch
One thing that immediately jumps out about the Houston Texans’ training camp is how the team handled rookies and veterans reporting. The Texans are one of the few teams in the NFL that will not have rookies report to training camp before veterans. Instead, both rookies and veterans will report on July 17th.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud will be someone to keep an eye on. He enters his sophomore season in the NFL after winning Offensive Rookie of the Year last season. If that was not enough, he led the Texans to the divisional round of the playoffs as well.
A lot of eyes will also be on WR Stefon Diggs. In the offseason, the star wide receiver was traded to the Texans from the Buffalo Bills. After working with QB Josh Allen for the last four years, Diggs now gets a chance to work with one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the league.
Other NFL Training Camps
As mentioned above, the Ravens will be the first team to have rookies report on July 13th. Most teams will have their veterans report either on July 23rd or July 24th. Once all of the teams report to camp, we will be one step closer to the 2024 NFL season kicking off.
