First unfortunate domino falls for the Saints during 2025 training camp
The New Orleans Saints need to stay healthy this season. That goes for just about nay NFL team, but the Saints felt shockwaves from ailments last season in a major way. In fact, the past few seasons have seemingly been a mountain of injuries for New Orleans.
This offseason, they adjusted their performance and conditioning staff. Ted Rath is their new Director of Sports Performance. He is highly-regarded around the sports world and brings fifteen years of NFL experience to the staff. So far, injuries haven't popped up in camp, but that changed on Monday morning.
Rath's background suggests he can help: He has 15 years strength and conditioning experience and last was with the Eagles from 2020-23. Philadelphia reached the Super Bowl in 2022 and Rath was named Strength Coach of the Year by Pro Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, the second time he'd won the award.
His connection to Moore dates back to Detroit, when Rath was the Lions' assistant strength and conditioning coach (2009-15) and Moore was with the Lions as a quarterback (2012-14). -- New Orleans Saints
J.T. Gray suffers first training camp injury
According to Nick Underhill, the Saints have their first injury of training camp. Safety J.T. Gray is dealing with a lower body injury. He's the first injury domino to fall so far for the black and gold.
New Orleans knew the injury bug far too well a season ago. They dealt with notable injuries at quarterback, wide receiver, offensive line, linebacker, and cornerback. For Gray, his special teams prowess is important to the Saints. They need him on the practice field for preparation's sake.
Hopefully, the veteran defensive back and special teams stud won't have to miss much time. The severity of Gray's injury is unknown for now. He has no timetable for return but expect updates soon.
