Flyers Coасһ Sends Bіg Prаіse to Toр Prosрeсt

Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella had some positive words to say about this top prospect.

Jett Luchanko

Philadelphia Flyers prospect Jett Luchanko remains with the NHL squad this deep into training camp. The 13th overall pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft has shown good promise during the pre-season, and now he has gotten some big-time praise from Flyers head coach John Tortorella because of it.

While speaking to reporters, Tortorella praised Luchanko for his pre-season play. Here is what the Flyers bench boss said on the matter:

"I think one guy that has stood out with pace, and I don't really think he's been affected too much is Luchanko. I think he continues to skate. I checked with him today, how his legs were, he said they feel pretty good. Maybe that's the youth, I don't know, but he's hung in there really well."

Luchanko is still aiming to earn a spot on the Flyers' opening night roster, so getting some positive recognition from Tortorella is undoubtedly a good thing. Whether he ends up making the team or not, it is clear that he is gaining his new coach's respect with his hard work.

Luchanko appeared in 68 games last season with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he had 20 goals, 54 assists, and 74 points. It was a significant breakout year for the 18-year-old, as he had just five goals and 14 points in 46 games with the club in 2022-23. Clearly, he is a young player who is developing in the right direction, and his future is looking very bright.
