The Philadelphia Flyers landed a potential star in the 2023 NHL Draft by taking Matvei Michkov, and now, after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, they're headed into the summer looking to land another star.

If there's any team capable of doing just that, it's the Flyers, as they hold three first round picks (No. 6, No. 23 and No. 32), as well as seven picks in the first two rounds, giving them plenty of ammunition to do what they want on draft night.

In a recent interview, Flyers GM Danny Briere addressed that situation and what they will want to do on draft night, noting that it's been quiet thus far on teams calling him to move up, with the opportunity for the team to move up or down on their own as the draft draws near.

'With having so many picks, I would expect that I'm also going to make a lot of calls too to try and gauge the interest. But so far, it's been quiet on that front. It feels like everybody's trying to move up at the moment. We have said from the beginning that we would like to try to move up if it was possible, but there's just not a lot of options there. Teams are all looking to move up, so we'll have to be patient. Maybe there's an opportunity that comes where we can create value going the other way also.'

While all the focus is on the lottery, there's expected to be some very intriguing talent late in the first round, and with Briere and co. having five picks between No. 22 and 48, he believes they may end up holding onto their picks and landing some great young talent.

'After spending a lot of time with their guys there's a lot of players that our guys like in that window after 22 through 48. So there's actually a really good chance that we keep the picks and we really build around those guys.'

With other young names like Denver Barkey, Jett Luchanko and Oliver Bonk among others making waves, if the Flyers can use all seven of their picks in the first two rounds and get things right, it's safe to say that they will be set up for long-term success in the NHL.
