Flyers Mаsсot Nаmed NHL Mаsсot Of Tһe Yeаr

Gritty, the supremely entertaining Philadelphia Flyers mascot that has been a viral sensation since his debut in 2018, has been named the NHL's Mascot of the Year for the second time.

Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty, dressed as Spiderman for Marvel Night, performs before the game against the Ottawa Senators at Wells Fargo Center.

First introduced as a creature of unidentified origin that had been sleeping under the Wells Fargo Center before being awoken to cause as much chaos as possible, Gritty has consistently provided hockey fans—and the Internet in general—with hilarious content.

Known for antics like throwing cakes at fans' faces, rappelling down from the Wells Fargo Center ceiling in elaborate costumes, and, of course, streaking, Gritty's brand of wreaking havoc and letting the intrusive thoughts win has made him the most famous mascot in the NHL.

After all, how many times have you seen other team's mascots make nationally televised late-night talk show appearances in their first year of existence?

As the 2024-25 season approaches, fans are in for plenty more unhinged, memeable, laugh-til-your-stomach-hurts moments from the NHL's most entertaining mascot.
