The Flyers should make a serious push for this Wild forward.
The Philadelphia Flyers have been talked about often in the rumor mill this season. It is understandable, as they are rebuilding, and they have several potential trade chips. Yet, at the same time, they should be open to making additions that have the potential to help them in the long term.
When looking at potential trade candidates around the NHL, one name who stands out is Minnesota Wild forward Marco Rossi.
In his most recent trade board for The Athletic, Chris Johnston listed Rossi as among the top trade candidates in the NHL right now. Johnston noted that the Wild have a decision to make with Rossi because of his pending restricted free agent status. The 2020 ninth-overall pick also created chatter as a trade candidate this past off-season.
With the Flyers needing help down the middle, Rossi could be an excellent player for them to bring in. The 23-year-old is off to a sizzling start with the Wild this season, posting seven goals, 19 points, and a plus-8 rating in 24 contests. This is after he broke out last season, recording career-highs with 21 goals, 19 assists, and 40 points in 82 games.
If the Flyers acquired Rossi, he would provide them with a skilled center to play with rising superstar Matvei Michkov. In addition, given the fact that Rossi is still young, he would have the potential to become a long-term piece of the Flyers' top six and power play if acquired.
The Wild currently have a 16-4-4 record, so things are going incredibly well for them. However, that has not stopped trade speculation surrounding Rossi, so the Flyers should have him on their radar. If he is officially put on the block, he could be a perfect addition to a Flyers club looking to build their core.
