Flyers sign Jett Luchanko to three-year Entry Level Contract

They’ve announced that they’ve signed their 2024 13th overall pick Jett Luchanko to his Entry Level Contract.

Luchanko, still just 17, is coming off of a very solid season with the  Guelph Storm of the OHL, which saw him score 20 goals and 74 points in 68 games played (on a Guelph team which was, in short, not very good).

And at this camp, too, he’s impressed. He showed well from his first day on the ice here, impressing  Flyers’ Director of Player Development Riley Armstrong right from the hop:

“Just seeing him out here, you can tell that he’s a little bit nervous, but that comes with the nature of the territory too, the first little camp here, being a first round pick, so there’s a little bit of added pressure there. But you know that’s something that we talk with him through, that stuff, and help him adjust and understand who he is as a player really… but he looks good out here. I thought that the first little skate we did, you can tell his strength is his skating, he can fly out there, up and down the rink. I think when you add speed to any lineup it’s a bonus.”

And Luchanko continued to show we across the whole of camp — his speed was on full display, the tenacity in his game came through well in the battle drills, and he was well involved in the offense in this evening’s 5v5 tournament.

He’ll head back to Guelph this season — and this contract will slide — and he seems primed to take a big step forward. With some extra tips and tools given to him in this camp in hand, and as a slightly older, more experienced player in the league, Luchanko should do even more damage this year. We’ll see how this all shakes out, but the immediate contract offered to Luchanko is a nice gesture, and should send him off with a good boost in confidence, to boot.
