This Philadelphia Flyers prospect has the potential to hit a new level in 2024-25.
The Philadelphia Flyers have several promising prospects in their system as they continue their rebuild. One of them is defenseman Emil Andrae, and because of this, he is player to watch incredibly closely during the 2024-25 season.
Andrae, 22, had a solid first full professional North American season in 2023-24. He emerged as a crucial part of the Lehigh Valley Phantom's defense, recording five goals and 32 points in 61 games for the AHL club. He followed that up by posting two goals and an assist in six playoff games for the Phantoms.
Andrae also played in four games with the Flyers this past season, where he had zero points, five hits, and six blocks.
Now, as we head into the 2024-25 season, it is hard not to feel some excitement about Andrae. After a strong 2023-24 campaign in the AHL, the 2020 second-round pick will look to continue to develop in the right direction. Given what he has shown so far, he certainly has the potential to hit a new level this upcoming season.
Besides being effective offensively from the point, Andrae has also garnered a lot of praise for his competitive level and hockey IQ. These elements could also help his chances of being a key part of the Flyers' defense in the near future.
Nevertheless, Andrae's goal from here will be to impress at training camp. If he does, the potential of him making the Flyers' opening night roster is there. It will be fun to see if he can take that next step and make an impact with the NHL club in 2024-25.
