Former Avalanche Jimmy Vesey Signs with Genève-Servette in Switzerland

   

Former Colorado Avalanche forward Jimmy Vesey has signed a two-year contract with Genève-Servette HC of the Swiss National League. This marks Vesey's first venture into European hockey after spending nine seasons in the NHL. The move comes after Vesey’s NHL contract ended following the 2024-25 season .

Jimmy Vesey's NHL Career

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1993, Vesey was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the 3rd round, 66th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft. However, he chose not to sign with Nashville and instead joined the New York Rangers in 2016, after winning the prestigious Hobey Baker Award while at Harvard University . Over his NHL career, Vesey played for several teams, including the Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, New Jersey Devils, and Colorado Avalanche . He accumulated a total of 101 goals and 93 assists in 626 regular-season games .

Moving to Europe

After the 2024-25 NHL season, Vesey was unable to secure a contract with an NHL team, leading him to make the decision to head to Switzerland. Genève-Servette HC, who recently added Jesse Puljujärvi, has signed Vesey to bolster their roster.
