Former Bills Coach Reacts To Josh Allen MVP Season

At one point in his career journey, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll was a measly offensive coordinator and play-caller for the Buffalo Bills.

His mission? Get young quarterback Josh Allen to develop into one of the best signal-callers in the game. After a four-year run with the team, Daboll accomplished that mission. Few quarterbacks in the league have the kind of success even remotely close to Buffalo's franchise quarterback.

Speaking at league meetings last week, Daboll made his thoughts known on the new league MVP and how stark his development has been to this point.

"I couldn't be happier for him and his family," Daboll said. "Tremendous person, an outstanding football player...I couldn't be prouder of the steps he's taken to grow as a quarrterback. It's been very impressive. He's an exceptional player. He's done a great job for that organization."

Allen is coming off a season where he put up 40 total touchdowns and just six interceptions. He led Buffalo to the AFC Championship game where they inevitably lost to the Kansas City Chiefs on the road.

Daboll and Allen have always had a strong relationship.

"He's meant so much to me in my football career and in my life for that matter," Allen said last season. "When you look at the grand scheme of things in terms of football and how to handle being a quarterback in this league, relying on the knowledge he has and the guys he's been around in his career, I spent a lot of time with him."

Allen wouldn't be the quarterback he is today with Daboll's coaching. And Daboll continues to be happy for his former player and friend.
