NHL Analyst Paul Bissonnette ended up making a bold prediction as he decided to link Buffalo Sabres star defender Rasmus Dahlin to his beloved Maple Leafs.
Leave it to Paul Bissonnette to stir the pot as the former NHL player turned analyst isn't shy about not only handing out some controversial takes , but his love for the Toronto Maple Leafs is pretty well known, as he makes no effort to hide it.
But with his passion for the team comes some pretty wild thoughts regarding how the team can improve, and his latest is sure to rub some heated rivals the wrong way.
Bissonnette posted on social media a Photoshopped picture of Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, a sign that he would appreciate the Swedish phenom on the blue line; as anyone would.
But is it a feasible option?
Rasmus Dahlin A Great Fit, But Will He Want To Be Here?
To put it plainly, Dahlin is a Sabre through and through. All the last place finishes and missed playoffs hasn't seemed to deter Dahlin, who was adamant about his desire to stay in Buffalo.
He's also made it clear that if he were to be traded, it would hopefully be anywhere but Toronto.
But stranger things have happened, and there's only so much loyalty a player can give, especially with aspirations of winning in the playoffs. Sadly, the Sabres are nowhere near the playoffs without a drastic overhaul of management and mindset.
The team has some really solid pieces but it always feels like one step forwards, two steps back for the Sabres, and it doesn't help they are in one of the toughest divisions in hockey.
Though if Buffalo decides that they aren't going to succeed anytime soon, they should do their captain a favor and give him a chance to win. Toronto would welcome him with open arms, as much as he's been vilified; he's too good to ignore.
An instant replacement for Morgan Rielly and the definitive #1 defenseman for the Maple Leafs, Dahlin would provide everything Toronto needs and then some on the back end.
For his career, Dahlin has 343 points in 492 games, with averages of 13 goals and 44 assists for his career (per 82-games) while adding over 100 hits and 100 blocks as well (per 82-game average).
It might be hard to convince Dahlin, and Bissonnette might be a bit hopeful in his desire to add the Swedish superstar.
But this is the NHL. Anything can happen.
