This former Philadelphia Flyers defenseman is heading overseas.
Former Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo was one of the top free agents still left on the board. However, he has now found a home for the 2024-25 season.
DeAngelo is heading overseas, signing a one-year contract with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL.
DeAngelo, 28, spent this past season with the Carolina Hurricanes, posting three goals, 11 points, and a minus-7 rating in 31 games. While it was a down year for the Sewell, New Jersey native, some wondered if he would get an NHL opportunity due to his past offensive success. However, he will now instead continue his career in the KHL.
DeAngelo spent the 2022-23 season with the Flyers. In 70 games as a Flyer, he had 11 goals, 42 points, and a minus-27 rating. His time in Philly ended after he was bought out during the 2023 NHL Offseason.
