This former Philadelphia Flyers forward has landed a PTO with the Colorado Avalanche.
According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, former Philadelphia Flyers forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare has signed a professional tryout (PTO) agreement with the Colorado Avalanche.
Last month, Bellemare told Norran's Mille Dybro that he hoped to play in the NHL for at least one more season. Now, after landing this PTO with the Avalanche, Bellemare is one step closer to potentially making that come to fruition.
Bellemare, 39, is a player the Avalanche certainly know well, as he spent the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons with the Central Division club. In 122 games over two seasons as an Av, he had 18 goals, 33 points, and a plus-8 rating.
Bellemare spent this past season with the Seattle Kraken, posting four goals, seven points, and a plus-4 rating in 40 games. While his offense was low, he could still be a serviceable fourth-line center or extra forward for the Avalanche if he is signed for the season.
Bellemare spent the first three seasons of his NHL career with the Flyers from 2014-15 to 2016-17. In 237 games with Philadelphia, he had 17 goals and 34 points. His time with the Flyers ended after the Vegas Golden Knights selected him at the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft.
