This former Flyers goalie will be out for a while.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that former Philadelphia Flyers goalie Anthony Stolarz will undergo surgery to remove a loose body in his knee. With this, he is expected to be out for the next four to six weeks.
Stolarz suffered his lower-body injury against the Anaheim Ducks on Dec. 12.
This is undoubtedly awful news for Stolarz, as he has had an outstanding start to the season. In 17 games so far this campaign with the Leafs, he has a 9-5-2 record, a 2.15 goals-against average (GAA), and a .927 save percentage (SV%). Now, his marvelous campaign will be put on pause.
Stolarz began his career with the Flyers, as they selected him with the 45th overall pick of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. In 19 games as a Flyer, he had a 6-4-4 record, a .911 SV%, and a 2.86 GAA.
