Former Mizzou OT Armand Membou Already Impressing New York Jets Teammates

Less than a week into his first professional training camp, and former Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou is already making a strong impression with his new team.

Tuesday, New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams joined the Up & Adams show and offered some high praise for the rookie.

"He's extremely strong," Williams said of the 6-foot-4, 332-pound Membou. "Probably one of the strongest people on the team." Williams, like Membou a first-round selection by the Jets, went on the praise his teammates' strong desire to improve.

"He's coming out, working every single day. Leaning on the defensive line to help him get better every day, and just working his butt off when it comes down to his technique. He's lightyears ahead of a lot of rookie offensive lineman I've played against and been around."

Prior to being drafted by the Jets, Membou played three seasons (2022-'24) with the Tigers. He saw action in 35 career games, making 29 starts at tackle. Last season, Membou started 12-of-13 games at right tackle, anchoring a Mizzou offensive line that ranked seventh nationally in time of possession (32:54).

The Jets opened training camp on July 25, and since then, Membou has been enjoying his time in Floral Park, NJ. "Oh, it's been really fun, you know, really competitive," Membou told NYJets.com's Randy Lange after Saturday's practice. "And I'm just excited to be back playing football."

He's also learning a lot from his Jets teammates, including edge rusher Will McDonald, who led the team with 10.5 sacks last season.

"Going against Will is a really tough matchup, but it's also really competitive and has been really fun," Membou said. "After practice, I'll go talk to him, just ask him tips about what he sees about my game, my set and stuff. ... I'll go against him and I'll just be thinking, 'How did he do that?'

"A guy like him, he's super-athletic. Going against him, I know once I get to the game, it's going to make me a lot better."

Membou will get his first taste of NFL action when the Jets open the preseason on Saturday, August 9 at the Green Bay Packers.
