Brandon Gignac played 15 games with the Laval Rocket this past season, but now the former third-round pick is officially departing North America on a new deal.
Back in 2016, the New Jersey Devils used a third round pick on forward Brandon Gignac, but he would play just one game at the NHL level with the team as he bounced around the AHL for a number of years.
Then, in 2023/24, he played seven games for the Montreal Canadiens before heading back to the Laval Rocket, the team he's played with since 2021/22, and now he's made a decision to depart North America and sign overseas.

According to reports, the 27-year old has signed a deal with EHC Kloten of the Swiss National League, ending what has been a solid run mainly in the AHL over the past eight years that saw him become a very productive contributor with the Rocket.
At 27-years of age, there's still plenty of time for Gignac to turn things around and potentially get another shot at the NHL level, but for now, all signs are pointing towards a player that could spend the remainder of his career overseas, whether it be in the National League or elsewhere.
Despite showing off significant talent with the Shawinigan Cateractes, the Quebec native simply never found his footing at the professional level, and now he'll look to do just that overseas as he attempts to reignite his career.
Ultimately though, this may be the last we've seen of Gignac in North America, as he's managed just 8 NHL games over the past eight years, and with all the opportunity out there, that signals a player that just doesn't cut it at the top level, but for now, only time will tell.
