Former New Orleans Saints star sends heartfelt farewell message to the entire fan base and organization

The New Orleans Saints franchise felt one of their former players leave the NFL this past weekend. Former Saints offensive tackle Terron Armstead has announced his retirement from football.

Armstead made 131 starts over the course of his pro career and was a five-time Pro Bowl selection. He played twelve seasons in the NFL, nine with the Saints.

Terron Armstead sends message after retirement

Following the news of his retirement and his career celebration party this past weekend, Armstead posted a heartfelt message to the Saints on social media.

To the New Orleans Saints, my teammates, fans, and city of New Orleans!! THANK YOU and I Love You!! You took a chance on me and my motivation was to prove you right!! You raised me, you taught me valuable lessons, you are a city of resilience and perseverance! Nola STRONG!

The long-time protector for Drew Brees made a massive impact on the QB's development when it comes to his performance and leadership.

"I remember when Terron Armstead first came into our locker room in 2013. He did not start immediately, but it would become evident to all that first year that he was going to be a starting left tackle in our league for a very long time. Not only did that combination of size, speed, strength and athleticism take over, but also the knowledge, leadership and sacrifice he brought to that offensive line and to our entire team elevated everything we did on and off the field. I could not have asked for more from a teammate for the eight years we were together, whom I am also proud to call a friend. Congratulations to Terron on an outstanding career and best of luck in what is sure to be a successful next chapter."

-- Drew Brees on Armstead's retirement and impact

Armstead consistently got involved in the New Orleans community during his time with the Saints. He proved his care for New Orleans and wanted to give back to fans that loved him for his tenure with their favorite football team.

Not to mention, Armstead always played through the bumps and bruises of playing in the NFL. He was never interested in sitting out a practice or game simply to rest or take care of himself in New Orleans. Armstead always wanted to help the team succeed.

If you talk to anyone about the former Saints star, you'll hear constant positives. Football fans may hear him over the radio waves or on television rather soon as well. He's got a knack for that, too.
