Former Patriots first-rounder reveals what QB was more talented than Tom Brady

In the minds of many, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

Although few would argue that belief is wrong, former New England Patriots receiver Phillip Dorsett recently stated on “The Money Down Podcast,” that he actually played with another signal-caller he believes was more talented than Brady.

“I always say this to everybody — people ask me, because they know I played with Tom — they was like, ‘Dang, who was the best quarterback you played with?’” Dorsett said. “I be like, ‘Be honest with you, when it comes to talent, it was Andrew Luck, for sure.’”

Brady’s resume is second to none. It’s almost unfair to compare any other QB’s body of work to his.

He has more Super Bowl rings, Super Bowl MVPs (five), division championships (19), career wins (251), playoff wins (35), passing yards (89,214), touchdown passes (649), Pro Bowl selections (15), game-winning drives (58) and fourth-quarter comebacks (46) than any other passer in NFL history.

But he also played 23 seasons. Luck, on the other hand, retired from the NFL at age 29 after just seven seasons due to chronic pain from the myriad of injuries he’d suffered over the years.

Although it was brief, Luck still had a notable NFL career. He was a four-time Pro Bowler, won Comeback Player of the Year in 2018 and was the NFL’s passing touchdowns leader in 2014. He threw for 23,671 yards, 173 touchdowns and 83 interceptions and went 53-33 as a starter.

“Talent-wise, Andrew was different,” Dorsett added. “He was just a natural born leader, he was still young, and the way he carried himself, you would think this man was a 10-year vet. … He was tough as hell. He had a strong arm, was smart, was accurate. It's just injuries. It was football. Sometimes you get hurt, you get tired of getting hurt."
