Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Drake Caggiula is taking his talents overseas. Lausanne HC of Switzerland's National League has announced that they have signed the 30-year-old to a one-year contract for the 2025-26 season.
Caggiula appeared in seven games this season with the Edmonton Oilers, posting one assist, five penalty minutes, and eight hits. He spent most of this season down in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors, however, posting 24 goals and 52 points in 62 games.
Caggiula signed a one-year contract with the Penguins during the 2022 NHL off-season. He played the majority of the 2022-23 campaign with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he had 22 goals and 55 points in 65 games. He also had zero points and a minus-1 rating in four contests with Pittsburgh.
Caggiula will now provide Lausanne HC with a player with NHL experience and should be an important part of their forward group. In 289 career NHL games over eight seasons split between the Chicago Blackhawks, Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Penguins, and Oilers, Caggiula posted 46 goals, 92 points, and 555 hits.
